GEAR-UP DAY – NOVEMBER 12!

We’re excited to kick off the season with our Gear-Up Day, where players can borrow equipment to get started! While we can’t guarantee every item for everyone, we usually have most essentials. Join us on Tuesday, November 12, at The Cotton Press, 149 Oneta St., Athens, GA.

 New players: 6-7 PM
 Returning players: 7-8 PM

Players are required to purchase their own helmets, neckguards, mouthguards, and cups. We’ll have some helmets and neckguards available for sale at Gear-Up, along with equipment and uniforms for sizing. If you’d like to place an order, please mention it at check-out. Additionally, we have a limited supply of helmets and neckguards available for new players on a two-week trial basis.

Got gear to donate? We’re collecting outgrown and gently used hockey equipment to support our community. Please ensure donated items are in good condition. Every contribution helps keep our players safe on the ice!

Volunteers Needed! If you can help on Gear-Up Day, please email us at info@negahockey.org. Parents who sign up have first dibs on gear!

We need your help

This season, we are implementing a volunteer initiative to ensure our program runs smoothly and efficiently. We kindly request that each parent volunteers their time for at least three sessions or events during the season. Whether it's helping with coaching, assisting in organizing events, providing first aid, or any other skill you possess, your involvement will make a significant impact on the success of our program.

A FEW REMINDERS:

Players should arrive at the outdoor 440 Pavilion behind the Classic Center in downtown Athens [MAP] at least 30 minutes before their scheduled ice time in order to have plenty of time to get ready. Ample parking is available. There is street-level parking on Dougherty Street or in the Classic Center parking deck. Do not park in front of the businesses on Foundry Street. Those spaces are reserved for their customers.

**Parents must stay at the rink with kids under 10.

SKATE SHARPENER

We will have a skate sharpener at the rink on Monday throughout practice and on Saturday until 9:30 AM. It's $10 cash, check or Zelle.

HELPFUL TIPS FROM PARENTS

Bring a towel & a plastic bag to wipe off your skates after practice. And a plastic bag to separate wet from dry. MAKE SURE TO AIR OUT YOUR EQUIPMENT AFTER EACH PRACTICE.

BUT MOSTLY...

Your support and involvement are greatly appreciated!

Equipment info

Jersey Orders
Jersey/sock orders submitted at the beginning of the season will be arriving soon. Those ordered in early December will be arriving in mid-January. You will be invoiced at a later date.

Neck Guards & Helmets
We have a few helmets and several neckguards still available for sale. Neck guards are a required piece of safety equipment that every player must wear.

Hocket Shin Guard Tape
Advice to new players: Hockey shin pad tape is very helpful for making sure that shin guards stay securely in place during play. The straps alone are often not enough to keep the pads from shifting around and then not being in the right place to protect your knees when you fall. You can find tape on Amazon if you search “hockey shin pad tape”. The link below shows some different ways to tape you pads.
